FROM THE DIRECTORS:
It’s been Spring officially now for a couple of weeks. Unfortunately, living in the Milwaukee area, and having that gigantic cold puddle east of us, there’s no way to predict whether it will feel like Spring or more like an extended mild winter. One can only hope.
We can be sure, however, that there will be enough mild days to get the bike ready for the riding season and find at least a few days to get out and knock off the winter induced rust. April is the perfect month to find an empty parking lot and get in some “low speed practice”.
March was a full month for chapter G activities. We again had our annual Winter Get-away in Baraboo at the Best Western motel. As always they treated us very well. We had use of the conference (read Party) room.
We had some great socializing and a few adult beverages were consumed
There was also a fair amount of Sheepshead played. Christen even played this year, having been coached by Ken in advance. (She claims he was an absolute drill master.)
Then we had a great visit with Homer Deahn, the sculptor who has worked on many projects for the Circus World Museum.
He has become really expert at carving horses for circus wagons and carousels.
We got to spend a great hour at his studio. He had lots of stories about his work, and also the many really neat things he’s done over the course of his life. He’s quite a unique person.
Please make a note of the change from our usual ‘last Sunday of the month’ social date for May. As we’ve done for several years, we’re having our May social the 2nd last Sunday to avoid the Memorial Day weekend.
