DECEMBER – 2019

group picture

We are a family organization based in the metropolitan Milwaukee Area. We have been in existence since 1983 and we are one of the larger GWRRA chapter in the state of Wisconsin. Besides our love of Gold Wings, we love to have fun.  You will commonly see our members riding together and doing non-motorcycling events.  We enjoy meeting new people and we accept new members with open arms.  If you have a technical question, most likely someone in our group will be able to assist.  Our activities include safety fairs, weekend camping/hotel trips, winter getaways to fight those winter non-biking blues, fundraisers, dinner rides, and the list goes on and on.  If you happen to be in the neighborhood on a social night, stop in, we’d love to see you.

DECEMBER EVENTS

1.Wed. Dec. 11th 8:30 AM – ROMEO breakfast ride to Miss Katie’s Diner, 1900 W Clybourn St, Milwaukee.     2. Because everyone is crazy busy during the month of December, the breakfast ride will be the only scheduled Chapter G event of the month. We hope everyone has a wonderful Christmas filled with joy and lots of time with your loved ones. MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE!

JANUARY 2020 EVENTS:

1.Wednesday Jan. 15, 2020 ROMEO lunch ride. This month we’ll meet at 11:30 at The Cheesecake Factory in Mayfair Mall. Mayfair is located on Hwy 100 north of North Ave. 2.Wednesday Jan. 22. Instead of our usual monthly dinner ride we have scheduled our Annual Holiday party at Doby’s Steakhouse located at 4136 S. Kinnickinnic Av. in St. Francis. We’ll meet at 5:30 as usual.                                                                                                                                       3. Sunday January 26. January Social at 3:00 PM at WaterStone Bank located at 6560 S. 27th St.

 FROM THE DIRECTORS:

First of all we want to wish everyone a blessed Christmas. We hope you’ll all be able to spend lots of time during the holidays with all your loved ones and friends. That’s the best possible thing to do at this time of year.

Because this time of year is often insanely busy, and because we all want to reserve as much time as possible for family, we are continuing the tradition of having very little chapter activity in December. We’ll have a ROMEO breakfast ride to Miss Katie’s diner on the 11th, but that will be the only chapter event for the month.

In January we’ll get back into the swing of things with a ROMEO lunch ride on the 15th and we have tentatively scheduled our annual holiday party on the 22nd instead of a monthly dinner ride. All the information is located above.

Again, we wish everyone a merry and blessed Christmas and a happy and safe New Year.

DECEMBER EVENTS                                                                                                                                1.Wed.  FROM THE DIRECTORS:                                                                                                                        Since we live in Wisconsin, the riding season is pretty much over for now, but the holidays are rapidly approaching so we’ll have plenty to do to stay busy.                                                       During November we continue our regular chapter events. We’ll have a ROMEO lunch ride and our monthly dinner ride. PLEASE SEE THE INFORMATION ABOVE CONCERNING THE CHANGE OF VENUE. (We’re told the staff reported for work one day and the doors were locked and never re-opened.)                                                                                                                                                     We’ll hold our social on the last Sunday of the month as usual.                                                            As you can see from the above information, however, we greatly curtail our events for the month of December. Everyone is just too busy preparing for the holidays and then celebrating with family and friends to spare much time for non-essentials.                                                       We want to wish everyone a pleasant and enjoyable Thanksgiving day, and if you’re so inclined a crazy but money saving Black Friday.                                                                                                  We hope to see you all at our November events.                                                                                      Rich & Sharon Winkler – Chapter G director

October sure got here in a hurry.                                                                                                              While it means we’re one month closer to the end of our riding season, the good news is it’s a time for some of the most pleasant riding of the whole year. The weather is often close to perfect and the fall colors are absolutely fantastic. In addition, we have Badger and Packer football, and maybe even Brewer’s baseball. Let’s go Brewers, yea Bucky, and GO PACK GO.  What a great time to live in Wisconsin!!                                                                                                  We will have our usual ROMEO breakfast ride this month, but please note that the destination has been changed from what was originally announced. We’ll be going to Andrea’s Family restaurant in Cudahy. Info on the dinner ride is listed above. The October social will be the place where we have our 2019 Circle Tour answers checked and then we’ll draw cards to see who wins the cash prizes. Good luck everyone.                                                                                        We’re looking forward to seeing you at one or all our October events.                                                 Rich & Sharon Winkler – Chapter G directors

 FROM THE DIRECTORS:

It’s hard to believe the summer is almost over.                                                                              August certainly was packed full of many fun filled events with our chapter, the district, and even with what used to be Region E.                                                                                                          The Region E Reunion Ride-in to La Crosse was a great time. Rich Winkler and Mark Hansen from our chapter attended. We had some great rides, lots of fun and fellowship, and just an altogether enjoyable time with Wingers from all over the Midwest. There were  even riders from as far away as Oklahoma who made the trip.

Shortly after that we had our annual Chapter G corn roast/picnic at Jackson park in Milwaukee. The weather was perfect, the food was good, and the fellowship was outstanding.

We had members of Chapters F, K, and N join us:

We didn’t compete for the Chapter Challenge Trophy this year, but we did have a great time playing Bocci Ball. None of us had ever played it before, so it was a great learning experience for all of us. We played guys against the gals and it was a spirited contest the whole way. The guys won, but we’re not certain if it was because the gals let us win.                                                          One of our most enjoyable events normally takes place in mid-September, but as was noted above, our annual Fall Fling to Konkapot Lodge near Bowler WI, had to be cancelled this year because of schedule conflicts for some of the few members who still wanted to attend. There just weren’t enough people going to hold the event. We’re hoping to renew it in 2020.

We are still holding our ROMEO lunch ride, monthly dinner ride, and social in September, so we’re really looking forward to seeing you at one or all of our events this month. We’ll be having a great time.

 FROM THE DIRECTORS:

WOW. Is the summer flying bye. How can July be over and it’s August already?!?

We finally had some really great riding weather in July. Hopefully everyone got out and put some quality miles on the bike.

One of the most interesting things some of us did in July was the lunch at Miss Katey’s Diner and then the visit to the MSOE Grohman Tower Art Museum. What an amazing collection of original art depicting all forms of labor and engineering. The museum building and its contents were all donated by a Milwaukee businessman and philanthropist named Eckhart Grohmann, who is also an MSOE regent. This museum is truly a hidden gem in downtown Milwaukee.

Boy, August is going to be one BUSY month. As you can see from the information above we have something going on every week and almost every weekend, starting with the ride to La Crosse and ending with the social.

The annual Corn roast/Picnic is always one of the highlights of the summer. We really need chapter G to turn out this year to help us get back the Chapter Challenge trophy from chapter N. You can be sure they’ll be bringing a lot of people to defend it.

We’re really looking forward to seeing you at one or all of our events this month. We’ll be having a great time.
