We are a family organization based in the metropolitan Milwaukee Area. We have been in existence since 1983 and we are one of the larger GWRRA chapter in the state of Wisconsin. Besides our love of Gold Wings, we love to have fun.  You will commonly see our members riding together and doing non-motorcycling events.  We enjoy meeting new people and we accept new members with open arms.  If you have a technical question, most likely someone in our group will be able to assist.  Our activities include safety fairs, weekend camping/hotel trips, winter getaways to fight those winter non-biking blues, fundraisers, dinner rides, and the list goes on and on.  If you happen to be in the neighborhood on a social night, stop in, we’d love to see you.

 FROM THE DIRECTORS:

It’s hard to believe the summer is almost over.                                                                              August certainly was packed full of many fun filled events with our chapter, the district, and even with what used to be Region E.                                                                                                          The Region E Reunion Ride-in to La Crosse was a great time. Rich Winkler and Mark Hansen from our chapter attended. We had some great rides, lots of fun and fellowship, and just an altogether enjoyable time with Wingers from all over the Midwest. There were  even riders from as far away as Oklahoma who made the trip.

Shortly after that we had our annual Chapter G corn roast/picnic at Jackson park in Milwaukee. The weather was perfect, the food was good, and the fellowship was outstanding.

We had members of Chapters F, K, and N join us:

We didn’t compete for the Chapter Challenge Trophy this year, but we did have a great time playing Bocci Ball. None of us had ever played it before, so it was a great learning experience for all of us. We played guys against the gals and it was a spirited contest the whole way. The guys won, but we’re not certain if it was because the gals let us win.                                                          One of our most enjoyable events normally takes place in mid-September, but as was noted above our annual Fall Fling to Konkapot Lodge near Bowler WI, had to be cancelled this year because of schedule conflicts for some of the few members who still wanted to attend. There just weren’t enough people going to hold the event. We’re hoping to renew it in 2020. We are still holing our monthly ROMEO and dinner rides, and our social however, so we’re really looking forward to seeing you at one or all of our events this month. We’ll be having a great time.

 FROM THE DIRECTORS:

WOW. Is the summer flying bye. How can July be over and it’s August already?!?

We finally had some really great riding weather in July. Hopefully everyone got out and put some quality miles on the bike.

One of the most interesting things some of us did in July was the lunch at Miss Katey’s Diner and then the visit to the MSOE Grohman Tower Art Museum. What an amazing collection of original art depicting all forms of labor and engineering. The museum building and its contents were all donated by a Milwaukee businessman and philanthropist named Eckhart Grohmann, who is also an MSOE regent. This museum is truly a hidden gem in downtown Milwaukee.

Boy, August is going to be one BUSY month. As you can see from the information above we have something going on every week and almost every weekend, starting with the ride to La Crosse and ending with the social.

The annual Corn roast/Picnic is always one of the highlights of the summer. We really need chapter G to turn out this year to help us get back the Chapter Challenge trophy from chapter N. You can be sure they’ll be bringing a lot of people to defend it.

We’re really looking forward to seeing you at one or all of our events this month. We’ll be having a great time.

Happy Independence Day. Hope everyone has a fun filled and safe 4th of July celebration.

Our riding season is in full swing now, and except for some cool and wet weather it’s been a good start. June was a fun month for Chapter G. We had our ROMEO breakfast ride and the monthly dinner ride.

The highlight of June was our annual fundraiser in conjunction with Sportland 2 and their Open house and bike show. After a week of consistent forecasts of rain the weather turned out to be great and we didn’t get a drop. Thanks to all the members (and honorary members) who helped make it a fun and profitable event. Unfortunately, the change from its original date caused us to miss the district rally again. Between the fund raiser and our Fall Fling we just can’t seem to avoid conflicting with the district rally.

July promises to be a good month for the chapter too. Please see the information above. Also, please note that the brunch ride that was listed on the calendar for Sunday June 21 has been cancelled because the members showed no interest in doing it.

August promises to be a great month for chapter and district events so please take a look at the chapter and district calendars. We’re looking forward to seeing many of you at these upcoming events.

 FROM THE DIRECTORS:

It’ finally June. That means it’s truly and sincerely summer here in Wisconsin.  Hopefully summer won’t just fly by, so we’re out of the riding season again. Our hopes for a pleasant May with lots of chances to ride didn’t pan out so well. Lots of cool (cold?) and lots of rain. Very few really nice days for getting out on the bike. June is bound to be much better.

June is really important to Chapter G. In addition to being a good month for riding, it’s also the month of our fund raiser in conjunction with the Sportland 2 open house and bike show. Unfortunately, they changed the original date of the event to June 22, so now we’re in conflict with the district rally again. We just can’t seem to win when it comes to the district rally.

We could sure use the help of any of our members who aren’t going to Wisconsin Rapids for the rally. There’s some work involved with the fund raiser, but it’s lots of fun too. As with most things “Many hands make the task easier”.

As is always the case here in Wisconsin, the summer months fill up with things for Wingers to do. Check out the calendar on the district website. You can get to the district website by clicking on the “links” tab on our chapter web site. (See the link above)

We’re hoping to see you at any or all of our activities this month and every month.

FROM THE DIRECTORS:

Happy Mother’s Day to all our Chapter G moms.

MAY – WHAT A BEAUTIFUL MONTH!

Spring will finally arrive in Wisconsin for sure. After the return of winter we had in the middle of April, it’s great to know (with 99.9% certainty) that we won’t have to put the bikes away because it’s snowing. Hallelujah!

There are rides planned all over the district and we’ll have our usual ROMEO breakfast and dinner rides this month too. If you want to join some other chapters for rides check the district website and click on the events tab. All the events for every chapter in the district are listed on the calendar. As always the district Dust Off is this month too. It’s on the 17th & 18th at the Glacier Valley Campground near Cambria. (details are on the district website).

There are two dates that we want to bring to everyone’s attention:

1.The May social is not the last Sunday of the month as is usual, it’s Sunday May 19.

  1. The date for the chapter fundraiser in June has been changed to Saturday the 22nd. We had to move it from the previously announced date (Sat. the 15th) because Sportland2 changed the date of their open house.

Unfortunately, this now puts us in conflict with the District Rally in Wisconsin Rapids. We were really looking forward to the rally since it no longer conflicted with our annual Fall Fling, and now we find ourselves with conflicting dates again. Sometimes it seems like you just can’t win!

Any chapter G members who weren’t planning to attend the district rally are certainly invited to come see the open house and bike show at Sportland 2.  Also, if you’re not going to the rally we could certainly use your help with the fundraiser. It’s a lot of fun and it brings in money that we use for the chapter all year long.

By the time May arrives we all should have had the chance to get out on the bike and knock off some of the rust that always accumulates over the non-riding winter months. Even if the weather is a little cool in May it’s still better than it’s been in April. It’s really time to get out an put some quality miles on the old iron (OK – mostly plastic) horse.

Hope to see you all at one or more of the upcoming chapter and district rides this month.

Rich & Sharon Winkler – Chapter G directors
