FROM THE DIRECTORS:

colorful_christmas_message[1]

The first thing we want to do is wish everyone a Blessed and Merry Christmas. It’s our hope that you all have a wonderful, warm time with your loved ones and friends.

It sure is hard to believe that another year is coming to an end. It seems like it was just a couple months ago that we were thinking about Christmas 2017.

Another riding season is in the books, but the good news is that we’re almost half way from the end of the 2018 season to the start of the new one in 2019.

As is noted in the information above, the chapter doesn’t have many events in December because it’s just too full of family events to have time for anything else.

We’ll be starting up strong again in January, with our first event being the Chapter’s Christmas/New Year’s party at 5:30 on Saturday Jan. 5 at the Sprecher’s restaurant in Bayshore Mall. We’d really like to see many of our members join us for an enjoyable evening of fun and fellowship. (And good food!)

In addition to the party on the 5th we’ll be back in the swing of things with a ROMEO breakfast “ride” and our monthly dinner “ride” and, of course, we’ll have our monthly social on the 27th.

We’re looking forward to a fun filled 2019 with lots of things to do together and hopefully we’ll get to meet many new friends in chapter G.

FROM THE DIRECTORS:

November seems to get here so quickly. Most of us will be winterizing the bike until sometime next spring. It’s not a favorite time of the year.

However, we’ve had a good riding season, and had some good times together. And finally winter doesn’t mean we don’t spend time together. It’s just not riding time so much.

Speaking of riding time, on Saturday Oct. 13 we had a really nice “Color Ride”.

Chapter G members, Mark Hansen, Willie Mabone, Jim Barsul, and Rich Winkler, were joined by Willie’s friend Mike, from chapter IL – D2.

IMG_20181013_135246649

The weather cooperated, (it didn’t rain) and eventually the sun came out and it warmed up.

We had a nice lunch at Wayne’s Diner in Cedarburg.

IMG_20181013_135256058

Everyone enjoyed the ride and we had a lot of fun. It was a great way to spend an October Saturday.

At the October social, we did our annual card draw for prizes for those who did the 2018 Circle Tour. Mark Hansen was the 1st  place winner, Mike Stockinger was 2nd, and Art Kuenstler and Rich Winkler tied for 3rd.

We decided at the September social that the 2018 charity donation will go to the Milwaukee area Salvation Army. Bob Schattschneider and John Hickman delivered a check for $250 to the local headquarters.

Also at the Sept. social we decided not to have a mileage contest in 2018. Instead each member present at the November social will be given one raffle ticket and the winner of a $25 KwikTrip gift card will be picked.

Another decision we made at the Sept. social is that we’re going to try to have a chapter Christmas/New Year’s party at an area restaurant. John Hickman volunteered to make arrangments. He has reserved a party room at Sprecher’s Restaurant & Pub in Bayshore Mall for Saturday January 5, 2019 at 5:30 PM.  A reminder will follow in future newsletters and separate emails to all members. We want to thank John for all he’s doing for Chapter G.

Another topic that came up in Sept. is Sharon’s and my appeal to all our members to come up with ideas for things we can do in 2019. The more ideas we get the better. If we get a bunch of ideas we’ll have things to do for more than just 2019. Please either email us with the ideas or bring them to a chapter social.

We want to take this opportunity to wish all our members a pleasant Thanksgiving day, and we hope to see many of you at chapter G events in the near future.

FROM THE DIRECTORS:

LET’S GO BREWERS!!!

It’s October which more or less signals the end of our riding season.

True we often get really great riding weather in October, but by the end of the month it’s pretty clear that winter is drawing near and it will soon be time to winterize the bikes till next spring.

All that being said, let’s take full advantage of the riding time that’s left this fall! We could find some great roads to explore the great colors we’ll be seeing this month and have a great time riding.

At our October social we’ll do the circle tour drawing. The rules are the same as always: For each correct answer from the tour you’ll draw one card. The total number of points you get from your cards will determine your score. (Aces=11pts; face cards and 10s=10pts; all other cards equal the number of points on the card.)

September was a great month for riding, and all the events we traditionally do then. Our breakfast and dinner rides were good, but the highlight of the month is our annual Fall Fling.

As we’ve done for many years now we held it at Konkapot Lodge near Bowler. The weather was fantastic (not a drop of rain and it was wonderfully warm), the food was excellent, and the camp fires were super. It was nice to be able to enjoy the fires without having to rely on them to keep us warm.

As always the staff was really great to us, and we had the added benefit of being able to see our good friend Toni all weekend. She even came back and joined us for the fire on Saturday night. All in all, it was about as good as it could have been.

We’re planning a color ride for the middle of this month, so keep an eye on your email for details.

Hoping to see you this month and every month for the fun we have when we get together.

 FROM THE DIRECTORS:

September is here already.

School has started again, soon the leaves will be changing colors, and fall will be upon us.

August was a very good month for riding. Two of our members joined about 50 other GWRRA members from Minnesota and Wisconsin for 4 days of riding and fellowship in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. The weather was great, the rides were wonderful, the scenery was spectacular and everyone had a great time. Plans are already underway to have another riding weekend next August in the La Crosse area. Stay tuned for further information.

August is also the month or our annual Corn Roast/Picnic/Chapter Challenge. It was held on Sat. 8/18 at Jackson park in Milwaukee.

The weather was perfect, the food was great, and the fellowship was outstanding.

Everyone had a really good time and we spent a lot of time just getting to know each other.

This year chapter G  IMG_1737was joined by members of chapter H from Madison and chapter N from the Waukesha area.

We competed for the Chapter Challenge trophy in both Jartz and Ladder Ball.

In what was a fairly close contest, chapter N was the overall winner and took possession of the Chapter Challenge Trophy until we again compete for it.

We were very happy to be joined by members from two other chapters this year and had a great time talking smack and just being together. Everyone had a really good time and is looking forward to next year’s event.

Now that September is here we have the Fall Fling at the Konkapot Lodge near Bowler coming up the weekend of the 14th & 15th which is always a good time for all of us who attend.

If you haven’t already done so be sure to get out and finish the 2018 Circle Tour. The answers are due at the October social. At that time we’ll draw cards to determine this year’ winners.

Please note that the October ROMEO ride is for lunch, not breakfast.

There’s still plenty of good riding weather left so get out there and spend some time on some of the great riding roads we have in Wisconsin.

Hoping to see you soon,

Rich & Sharon Winkler

 FROM THE DIRECTORS:

Wow is the summer flying by. Of course when you’re a Wisconsin motorcycle rider it always does. Then Winter lasts FOREVER!

We have some busy months coming up.

To start with a couple of our members are planning to join the Minn./Wisc. Districts ride to the Upper Peninsula of Michigan from the 9th – 12th.  It sounds like it will be a great ride and lots of fun.

Shortly after we get back from the UP we have our annual Corn roast/Picnic on the 18th. We’ve again challenged all the chapters in the state to an athletic competition in Jartz and Ladder Ball, with the beautiful Chapter Challenge trophy at stake.

trophy pic

We’ve been assured that at least chapter N will bring a group of aspiring athletes to try to take back the trophy. We would of course love to see members from many other chapters join us as well. We will supply the brats, buns, soda, and corn. Everyone else is asked to bring the traditional Wisconsin “dish to pass”.

We’d appreciate it if anyone who wants to join us for the picnic would let us know a week in advance so we can know how much food to buy.

Then in Sept. we have one of the most anticipated Chapter events of every year. It’s the annual Fall Fling to Konkapot lodge near Bowler WI. It’s always a great time for relaxing and just having a good time with our fellow members. This year, as usual, we’ll have  a Friday night shrimp boil and Saturday night turkey fry and ham bake. This year, however the chapter will provide all the food, so members won’t be charged anything for the meals.

As can be seen from the information above, August and September are going to be busy months. The emphasis the national leadership wants put on more riding and less of the “other stuff” seems to be taking hold here in Wisconsin.

We’re really looking forward to seeing many chapter G members, and people from many other chapters, join us this summer and fall and really turn it into a great time for riding and making friends.
