 FROM THE DIRECTORS:

We were really optimistic when writing the May newsletter that things would be returning to normal by June. BOY, WERE WE WRONG. There won’t be any optimism this month. Lots of hope that things will improve by the end of the month, but we’re not expecting many of our planned activities for June to actually take place.                                  There is the positive point that most official lockdowns are ending and there are plans for a gradual return to doing things we haven’t been able to do for months now. However, it certainly appears that a return to anything resembling “normal” is somewhere in the future. At this point, no one knows when.                                                        As can be seen in the “June Events” section above it seems unlikely our breakfast and dinner rides will take place and both the chapter and district events planned for later in the month have already been cancelled. About the only June event which appears to have much chance of happening is the Social on the 26th. That, of course is also dependent on what meeting rules the city of Oak Creek has in place by then. As has been the case for several months now, we won’t know what we can do until the “powers that be” tell us what they will allow.  In the meantime, stay well, try to keep from going stir crazy, and know that we’re thinking of you and wishing you well.                                          We will be sending out the information on the 2020 Chapter G Circle Tour very soon, so the members can have places to go where “social distancing” isn’t a problem now that the weather is finally good.                                                                                                                  Rich & Sharon Winkler – Chapter G directors

 FROM THE DIRECTORS:

Here we are in May, when we’d normally be wishing all the moms a happy mothers day, and our riding season should be getting into full swing and district and chapter events should be building up to a full schedule across the whole area.                                                                      We’re still wishing all you moms A HAPPY MOTHER’S DAY, but unfortunately we’re still stuck with the COVID 19 shutdown across the whole state, and almost the whole country. Unfortunately, things don’t look very positive for this mess to end very soon. No matter how we feel about the shutdown personally, the chapter has no choice but to follow the governor’s orders.                                                                                                                                                         Just as we did last month, for the April events, we’ve listed the events for May as originally planned. As you can see from the notations on the list, however, the odds of them actually happening are either nonexistent or very unlikely. Rather than emailing members of events which are cancelled, we’ll send an email when we can finally get together again. There is a slight hope for the May social but we’ll see. Don’t hold your breath.                                                                June should (we can only hope) let us get back to some sort of normality. As the list shows the month of June is really busy. Along with our usual breakfast and dinner rides we have the District Rally, which finally falls on a weekend when we don’t have any chapter events happening, so many of us should be able to attend.  (We’ve just learned that it’s been postponed. New date is not yet known.)                                                                                     Saturday June 27th is our annual chapter fundraiser which is always a busy but fun day, and then Sunday the 28th  is our June social.                                                                                                    We should certainly be past the corona virus scare by June so let’s plan to spend lots of time together and make up for all the time we’ve missed in March, April, and May.                                   We’ll see you all as soon as possible.

 FROM THE DIRECTORS:

It’s hard to know what to write for this month’s newsletter. These are such unprecedented times.  COVID-19 has turned everything on its head. As is obvious all the events listed above are tentative. We’re trying to be positive and listed them as originally planned. Unfortunately, it’s almost certain the April events won’t happen. We can only hope and pray that the worst of the problems will be over by May and some or all the planned events will go on as listed. We’ll update everyone by email when the events are due as to whether or not we’ll be able to actually do them. Looking for something a little lighter, we want to share a couple lines we got from a friend. “Wouldn’t you know it, gas is finally easier to afford, and we have nowhere to go.” and  “ I really didn’t plan to give up this much for Lent!”.                                                                                            On a much brighter note, March started out really nicely for us. We were able to hold our annual “Winter Get-Away in Baraboo from the 6th through the 8th . As usual there were some games played, we had some good sheepshead games and a few adult beverages were consumed.

IMG_1803IMG_1815IMG_1808

Kristen had some fun things for us to do and she had a really interesting lady speak to us about her experiences as an ostrich farmer. It was a wonderful way to start the month. Seems like things went downhill after that.  We’re hopeful that April ends on a better note than it’s starting with. We’re all in this together so we’ll just hang in and keep in touch as best we can and pray that none of us have to deal with this lousy virus.

We’ll see you all as soon as possible.

 FROM THE DIRECTORS:

WOW                                                                                                                                                             It’s March already.                                                                                                                                      We had a good month of February. The weather was pretty mild, and we had some good times together. Those of us who attended the Chili Dump lunch on the 23rd enjoyed the food and fun we had. We can only hope that March turns out to be as good a month too.                                  We’re really looking forward to our annual Winter Get-Away on the 6th through the 8th. It’s always a good time. Every year it seems Christin comes up with more fun and interesting things to do than the year before. We always have a good time playing Sheepshead, and enjoying a few “adult beverages” too. This year the chapter will buy supper from the motel restaurant one of the nights we’re there. That’s one of the benefits we’ll reap from the hard work we put in at the annual fund raiser in June.                                                                                                                Already in March the days are getting noticeably longer and while it’s still winter with April around the corner we at least are within sight of Spring. We can almost always find some good days for getting the bike out in April. This year we’ll be able to overcome some of the pain of tax day with our April dinner ride which falls on the 15th. At least there’s something enjoyable happening on that day.                                                                                                                          Hope everyone has a great month of March and joins us for some of our fun events.

 FROM THE DIRECTORS:

The first month of 2020 is behind us now, so we’re on the downslide toward spring. That’s one of the things we have to concentrate during this long cold winter month of February. Even though it’s the shortest month of the year for some reason it seems to last forever, and it will inevitably be COLD.                                                                                                                                  One thing we do to make the month a little more interesting and fun is our annual Chili Dump lunch before our Feb. social. The chili is a little different every year because we always have some different people contribute. The idea of the chili dump is that everyone brings their favorite chili recipe and they’re all mixed in a Nesco. Each couple is asked to bring a quart of chili and each individual is asked to bring a pint.                                                                                  Between lunch and the social we’ll have an interesting presentation by Bob & Ginny Schattschneider.                                                                                                                                      Once we get through February the days will be getting longer and we’ll actually be noticeably closer to getting some spring weather. It will be time to get outside and get rid of the usual “cabin fever”.                                                                                                                                            We’re looking forward to seeing you at one or all of our February events.
